Sea of swallows, swallow the sea.

I read this book in a couple of hours a couple of months ago, but never transferred my favorite passages over here. It was quite a deliciously disturbing novel, I reccommend it if you aren't faint of heart...

"I was, as always, amazed at my ability to blend in with the masses of us. I kept assuming that eventually, inevitably, I'd be standing in a crowded place and suddenly everyone would start shifting uncomfortably and turning their heads  at the smell of other. A ring of empty space would start to form around me as the people shrank away, and I'd be left standing on my own, irrefutably alien. I dreaded that moment. My whole life was geared toward avoiding it.."

"My love, you have exorcised fouler demons from me than you can possibly imagine."

"My courteous face was armour againstintrusion. My manners were a martial art."

Sea of swallows, swallow the sea.

i cant believe how lucky i am. despite my mind's warped way of sabotaging things when they become too perfect, he is there. the way my mind twists & turns, im in awe anyone would stick around this long, be this dedicated. i almost fucked things up with the only love ive ever really had last night, and any other bird would have flew from the nest long ago. but this bird didnt leave me, he stays through the wobbly winters & the surging summers. i am not deserving, but i am so grateful. my mind is a mausoleum, and the ghosts of the past are locked in its many drawers. no matter how easy it is to open them, there is a key to their locks and he will always be there to protect & preserve.
you're the yellow bird that ive been waiting for...
